Alfie Bloom and the Secrets of Hexbridge Castle

Alfie Bloom and the Talisman Thief  *Beware! Contains spoilers for the first book*

These sheets link to the talks and workshops I deliver in schools. They’re designed to get kids writing creatively in a variety of ways.

Crazy Sandwiches
Alfie’s dad makes the strangest sandwiches. With this worksheet you can write a recipe for your very own crazy sandwich!

Mixed Up Beasts
To name the town of Hexbridge, I mashed together the names of two existing towns, Hexham and Corbridge. I also like to invent mixed up beasts. What sort of strange beastie will you create?

Colouring fun!
AlfieAmy, Robin and Madeleine are all dressed up for Halloween. Can you colour them in? Here’s a picture to help you.

  1. Hello Gabrielle,
I attended your session at the Book Festival in Gateshead on Saturday with my daughter Amie (6) who really enjoyed it.
After we left she became very upset that we hadn’t bought one of your books (sorry!) and got you to sign it (or a book mark). Is there any way now I could buy one of your books (she’s especially keen on Knights and Bikes) with your signature in it, please? It’s her 7th birthday on November 29th and it would be great to be able to give her that.
I’ll hope to hear back from you.
    Fingers Crossed.
